The 5th ALS New Horizons Academy took place on September 12–13 at TUM Klinikum Rechts der Isar. It brought together early-career researchers to share their latest findings, foster collaboration, and develop a review on the peripheral nervous system’s role in ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis). Prof. Sabine Liebscher from Innsbruck presented the keynote lecture, “Circuit mechanisms of cortical hyperexcitability in ALS.”

Congratulations to Christina Steffke, Mira Seidel, and Benedikt Becker for being awarded the ALS Research Foundation’s prizes in recognition of their outstanding research projects. The three winners were selected by a distinguished committee comprising Prof. Paul Lingor (TUM Munich),Prof. Sabine Liebscher (MUI, Innsbruck, Austria), and Prof. Alexander Thompson (Oxford, UK).
